Here’s why dating sucks in dc, ladies: you’re just too educated

InI made the decision to move back home to Arlington, thus beginning a journey of 15 first dates between the months of July to June From awkward encounters to tear-jerking credit card statements and literally being kissed without my permission by a married woman in front of her husband and my date, my experiences ran the gamut.

So what does a year of dating in D. Let me tell you!

Fourteen of the 15 dates came from Tinder and JSwipe. I was never good at approaching women at bars, so this kind of dating suited me.

I approached these apps with a very subtle strategy: blindly swiping right until there were no more new matches. The real work began when deciding whom to message. I tried not to have the conversation last more than a day or two before asking for a face-to-face meetup. Education and height never changed.

Lots of dates meant I had the Herculean task of coming up with fun date ideas such as bars, Nats games, karaoke, the zoo and a plethora of other experiences. There was also a wide range of the exact date in which a girl would offer to pay for part, or all, of the expenses.

To save my own bankit was essential to get creative in finding cheap or free dates thank you, Smithsonian museums. This may come as a shock, but I also refrained from sending any unsolicited advances, even though that seems to be the go-to move for some cavemen. Come on, we're better than that guys! I became the lunchroom gossip each day, with other teachers living vicariously through my zany dates.

Dating in dc: what affluent professional women really want

My year of dating ended in June because I met the right woman. I am happily in a loving relationship that I would not trade for the world. The sheer amount of dates was not a source of pride.

This year was trying, funny, frustrating, but eventually fulfilling with the desired outcome of finding someone who hates the same things and people as I. For all of those reading, keep swiping, keep meeting, keep trying. There is someone out there for everyone! Do you have a dating in D. We'd love to hear from you! us at dcrefined gmail.
